Numerical Analysis of Crack Effect on Natural Frequency of Cantilever Composite Beam

Abstract The presence of cracks on a beam causes changes in the physical properties which introduces flexibility, and reduce the natural frequency of the beam. The crack in a structural member always remains open during vibration. However, this assumption may not be valid when dynamic loadings are dominant.

This study is an investigation of the effects of cracks on a cantilever composite beam, made of Aluminium- reinforced GFRP and Aluminium reinforced Nylon. . The mechanical properties of aluminum and fibers (Nylon and Glass fiber reinforcement polymer) are measured with universal testing machine. The beams are made of Aluminium and synthetic fibers of dimensions 500x30x6 mm. The Cracks are provided on the cantilever beam which is varying from 10 to 90% of beam length, and we investigate the natural frequency of all five mode shapes with zero cracks to ninth cracks on the beam. The finite element model agrees well with the analytical values.

Keywords GFRP, Nylon, Aluminium, Natural Frequency, Mode Shapes.

Implementation of Total Productive Maintenance in Thermal Power Station (Barauni Refinery)

Abstract This paper describes the course in TPM, Implementation in power plant for engineering students. Total productive maintenance (TPM) is a technique of maintaining and improving the integrity of production and quality systems through the machines, equipment, processes and employees that add business value to the organization. TPM has been keeping on all equipment in top working condition to avoid breakdowns and delays in the manufacturing process. The success of TPM is the support of top management. The areas of interest in this master’s thesis are-TPM, the steps involved by the implementation of TPM in an organization, Objective of TPM, TPM – History, Pillars of TPM, Types of maintenance, TPM Targets, TPM in a organization, Fire & Safety department, TPS (Thermal Power Station), BXP (Barauni Expansion Project),Coker. Total productive maintenance is a concept which aims at zero down time. In this paper TPM focuses on Emphasizes Equipment Excellence as backbone of Manufacturing Excellence.

Business Intelligence: A catalyst for change management (Case Study of Loral International Schools Organization)

Abstract Today’s business management is faced with a lot of challenges due to the prevailing business environment. The globalization faced with new market penetration, accessing resources more economically, fast information processing and sharing with relevant stakeholders are more than enough reasons to force business managers to seek a CHANGE for a better and technological approach to handle management of business operations. The evolution of business intelligence(BI) therefore becomes the preferred business tool to drive its processes in an attempt to meet up with the target of a better-cheaper-faster business results. This research work is aimed at outlining the basic concept of business intelligence / change management, functions of business intelligence in an enterprise, how to transform from a nominal business to a business intelligence(BI) environment and its impact analysis. Loral international Schools Organization is a case study of planned implementation of business intelligence using System Application Products(SAP).

Keywords Benchmarking, business intelligence, SAP, data mining, change management and impact analysis.

Experimental Investigation To Develop The Refrigeration System With Two Phases Condensing Ejector Along With Energy Saving

Abstract This experimental model presents a method of reduce energy consumption and enhance the refrigerating effect. With the help of two phases condensing ejector it is found that ejector work as sub compressor in refrigeration flow cycle. That helps to reduce compressor load effectively and hence improve refrigerating effect. The new cycle includes a second step compression by an ejector device, the compressor compresses the vapour to approximately 4/5 of the final pressure and additional compression (i.e. 1/5 of final pressure) is provided in an ejector, the thermodynamic model has developed for R134 and R22 refrigerant showing a possible efficiency improvement as compared to the traditional vapour compression cycle. The investigation of a new cycle for vapour compression refrigeration with using a novel device for non-mechanical compression of refrigerants is called a condensing ejector has carried out within this project. This novel device is a hybrid of simple vapour compression refrigeration system [SVCRS] and ejector refrigeration system [ERS] is more attractive than traditional refrigeration system because of higher coefficient of performance [COP].That leads the energy saving for same amount of cooling.

Keywords Reciprocating Compressor, Two Phase Ejector, Condenser, Refrigerant Separator, Capillary, Drier, Evaporator, Pressure Gauge, Thermostat, Thermocouple and Refrigerant.

Analysis of Fiber bragg grating as dispersion compensator

Abstract Speed is the essential part of communication system. It deals with the growth of the system, because in any system quick response is required in order to achieve the speed limit there are so many obstacle come in the path of telecommunication .Although Optical fiber plays the important role in the development of the system characteristics but also have some limitation like dispersion is on of them. While improving the sped of data transmission the dispersion will occur in the path of transmission which can be improve by using FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating). FBG is a key component in optical communication system as, dispersion compensators, filters and flatteners gain and improve Quality factor. Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) as dispersion compensator. The analysis has been simulated in efficient optical communication software called optisystem. The performance of the FBG has been studied on the basis of input power, length of OFC, attenuation, line width, FBG grid size.

Keywords FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating), Line width, FBG size, Otisystem, Optical Fiber Communication.
